RigantiCOUR began playing in 1970 with Materia Gris, a group linked to what is considered one of the country's first rock operas. Four years later, he founded Alas alongside keyboardist Gustavo Moretto, a friend from his teenage years in San Isidro, and bassist Alex Zucker. The trio debuted at Buenos Aires' IFT theater in 1975 and released its self-titled album in 1976, a work built around two long pieces that combined tango and vidala.

In 1976, Alas performed at the Coliseo theater with a more prominent bandoneon, earning praise from Astor Piazzolla. After Zucker moved to the United States in 1977, Pedro Aznar joined the band at just 17 years old. They recorded Pinta tu aldea, which was only released in 1983. Riganti also worked as a session drummer with Raúl Porchetto, toured Europe with Moris, recorded Mundo Moderno, and later joined Piero's Prema. His musical path continued in projects such as Los Cuerpos Cavernosos and Diga 33, formed entirely by doctors.

  • Alas reunited in 2003 for performances in the United States and released Mímate bandoneón in 2005.
  • In May 2025, the band performed at the Ópera theater as part of the Héroes del Rock Nacional cycle.
  • Outside music, Riganti worked as a pediatrician, immunologist and allergist at Hospital Pedro de Elizalde and in his private practice in General Pacheco.
  • His colleague Oscar Giunta described him as a fundamental influence on several generations of drummers and musicians, while also highlighting his teaching and medical work.

His colleague Oscar Giunta described him as a fundamental influence on several generations of drummers and musicians, while also highlighting his teaching and medical work. It is a career that sounds like a roundabout way of doing two jobs at once, like working the night shift while keeping the office hours. My recommendation: listen to Alas, remember Riganti's drumming and do not miss the details of a musician who also treated children.
