La AIC clarifies official flow forecasts for the Neuquén River during heavy rains
The basin authority asks residents to rely on its daily release schedule rather than estimates from digital platforms during alerts for intense rainfall.
Official forecasts do not use estimated data from digital platforms
The Authority explained that estimates from applications such as Google Flood Hub do not replace official information from competent agencies and are not a valid source for determining scheduled releases from the Comahue system dams. Any modification to the release schedule must be communicated through the organization's institutional channels.
- The scheduled releases from the El Chañar compensating dam remain below 550 cubic metres per second.
- For the weekend, maximum flows of 520 cubic metres per second and minimum flows of 500 are forecast.
- The following days are expected to record lower values.
- All figures correspond to average daily flows and are updated daily on the authority's website.
The Authority Interjurisdiccional de las Cuencas de los ríos Limay, Neuquén y Negro, known by the initials AIC, reported that the Neuquén River flows remain below the 550 cubic metres per second threshold. The programming provides a reference for planning travel and taking precautions in low-lying areas, without replacing local emergency guidance.

Residents should enter the AIC website and locate the section on scheduled flows. In an emergency, the consultation can help anticipate conditions in vulnerable areas. For immediate safety guidance, authorities should be contacted through their official channels.
